Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development and Welfare

Since Banque Misr was established in 1920, the bank had a
corporate social responsibility program, as one of its
basic beliefs is to participate in social activities
supporting community development in Egypt.
In continuation for its role ,Banque Misr decided in 2007 to establish a
non-profit foundation the" Banque Misr Foundation for
Community Development and Welfare" which was authorized by
Ministry of social solidarity under registration number 7045
of 2007 Cairo , as a separate legal entity from Banque Misr
and managed by a Board of Trustees.

Objectives
|
- Focus on the areas of health, education, culture, economic welfare and protection.
- Support local communities in their development projects.
- Support activities carried out by the civil society that has a meaningful impact on society.
- Offer scholarships for talented university students.
- Provide financial and in-kind support to scientific research centers, schools, universities and public hospitals.
- Assist elderly citizens and those of special needs to live a normal life.
The foundation will not fund projects with religious or political interests or objectives

Projects
|
- The achievement of the objectives of the foundation will be
through the implementation of development projects. The projects
will be implemented through NGOs specialized in the field of
work. - The foundation role will be to finance and monitor the
project implementation. Projects or proposals may be generated
by the Trustees of the Foundation or by the NGOs by potential
beneficiary groups.

Projects criteria
|
|
Project proposals will be submitted to the Board of Trustees
for review and approval. Projects should meet the following
criteria:

Be in line with the objectives of the foundation.

Reach the maximum number of our targeted beneficiaries in the Egyptian
community.
- Have a meaningful impact and therefore the foundation
avoids as much as possible small, fragmented projects.

Be executed by an NGO which will be funded by the foundation

Examples of Projects supported by the Foundation in the
following institutions
|

LE 500,000 for Kidney and Urinary infections institute _Mansoura University.

LE 50,000 for the Center of the Social Insurance Fund of the Public department
for students support _Ministry of High Education.
- LE 3,000 for the
National Institute of the blind.
- LE 100,000 for
inplant of organs department Ain Shams University.

LE 500,000 for constructing a hospital and an Institute
for Liver_Dakahlia.

Resources
|
|
The Foundation funds will come from the following sources:
-
Misr Bank, will allocate on a yearly basis a contribution from its net profit.
-
Institutions wishing to support the Foundation in its general objectives or in certain of its projects.
- Donations coming from within or from outside Egypt from individuals who believe that the foundation could be a reliable conduit to channel their charity activity.

Organization
|
|
Under the supervision of the Board of Trustees, the Foundation is run on a day to day basis by a small staff composed of a Foundation Director assisted by one development officer, an accountant and an administrative assistant.
