This project was executed in
partnership with Masr El Mahrousa Baladi Association at various informal
settlements (slums) in Cairo. The project aims to improve the education,
psychological, and health conditions for 250 orphaned students every year,
through the following activities:
- Holding reinforcement
classes for primary and preparatory students, and providing the necessary
teachers, equipment, and books
- Holding literacy
classes for breadwinning women
- Holding classes for
those with academic difficulties and contracting with specialized teachers to
teach the students
- Regular check-ups for
orphaned students and providing treatment for chronic illnesses, as well as
organising health awareness seminars
- Organizing several
educational and principle-building activities, such as scouts, theatre, and
artistic activities, as well as a student’s camp and entertainment trips
- Preparing a workshop
to train women to sew
- Preparing a computer
lab and training children on computer programs and programming
- Supporting several
women in establishing their own small projects (businesses)
