Banque Misr Maintains its Leading Position in Electronic Payments
The bank ranks first for the 11th year in a row in e-payroll services
Egyptian Tax Authority awards Banque Misr best Egyptian bank in e-tax payment
Stemming from its leading position in electronic payment services, Banque Misr maintained the number one position for the 11th year in a row in e-payroll services provided to government employees. In addition, the Egyptian Tax Authority has awarded Banque Misr the title of the best Egyptian bank in e-tax payment in 2014. The bank also scored the first position for the total number of transactions conducted with Banque Misr cards via ATMs operating within the 123 processing system. Moreover, the bank has come first in the number of contracted merchants transactions conducted by electronic payment cards, amounting to 26% of the total Egyptian market.
Banque Misr has achieved outstanding results in the area of electronic payments following its comprehensive automation of government payments, including e-payroll provided for public employees, as well as the governmental collection system of taxes and customs. The bank has deployed state-of-the-art technologies at more than 500 branches nationwide, where companies banking with Banque Misr are able to pay their taxes/customs through the Corporate Payment Service online. On a separate note, Banque Misr was the first Egyptian bank to issue the BM Youth card, which enables student to pay for his/her tuition fees at any Banque Misr branch or via POS available at participating universities.
These remarkable achievements are the outcome of the leading electronic payment services Banque Misr has been providing for years with on ongoing commitment to upgrade its services according to the latest global standards. As a result, Banque Misr was the first Egyptian bank to receive PCI-DSS certification. It is worth noting that the total number of Banque Misr cards issued to date, including credit, debit, prepaid and payroll cards, amount to 3.8 million cards.
The bank also has the largest ATM network, with 1,400 ATMs nationwide. New services have been introduced to customers via Banque Misr ATMs in addition to withdrawing and depositing money. These services include cardless money transfer (Engaz Service), and the payment of bills, donations and subscriptions in cooperation with Fawry.
