Banque Misr Scores Two awards from the European magazine, making its awards count reach 15 in the first half of 2019
Banque Misr has won two awards from the British “The European” magazine. One for “The Bank of the Year 2019” and the other for “The Best Bank in Financial Inclusion in Egypt 2019”. These two awards come as the cherry on top of many other awards won during the past period by Banque Misr for different business areas from various international institutions. These awards are regarded by the bank as a recognition and an appreciation for its accomplishments and efforts in different sectors, being one of the pillars of the national economy and the first Egyptian-owned bank in the history of the country.
In the field of small and medium project funding and microfinance, Banque Misr has won the 2019 Africa award for the bank of the year for financing small and medium enterprises from the “Corporate Livewire” magazine.
In the field of cash fund management, the bank’s efforts paid off through winning many awards, out of which was the best bank in managing cash funds and short-term investments in Africa for the year 2019 from “Global Finance” magazine, for the eleventh consecutive time. Global Finance is one of the most specialized magazines in the world, with its headquarters in New York city. The magazine uses a complex matrix of international financial criteria in its selection of the award winners, in addition to the opinion of a distinguished panel of international analysts and bankers.
This award is given to the best bank in the Middle East with the best indices for profitability, customer service, market share, competitive rates compared to other banks, and adoption of state-of-the-art banking technologies.
Banque Misr had also won the award for best bank in managing cash, liquidity, and cash funds in Africa and the Middle East for the years 2009 and 2010, and in the Middle East for 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015; and the best bank in managing cash funds and short-term investments in the Middle East for 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Due to the bank’s efforts over the past period in the field of corporate and syndicated loans; Banque Misr has had many wins amongst which was ranking second in the African continent as a principal bank in syndicated loans and project finance with a market share of 5.5% as per the evaluation prepared by Bloomberg in the first half of 2018; Banque Misr came in third in syndicated loan marketing and project finance in the African continent with a market share of 6.8%. Banque Misr has been achieving high rankings in these classification lists since 2015 by continuing on its success in those fields amongst all of the African banks. Banque Misr has also won the award for the best Egyptian bank in terms of syndicated loans and project finance in 2018 from the World Union of Arab Bankers. The bank also won the award for the best bank in project finance in Africa for 2017 for the third consecutive year from “EMEA Finance”.
Banque Misr won another six awards from EMEA Finance in 2018 for financing operations the bank had jointly executed in liaison with other leading banks in the banking sector. These awards were for projects covering various domains; i.e. fertilizers, petrochemicals, building materials, and communications. These were in a competition on the African level under Project Finance Awards, in addition to the “Achievement Award” section. Those awards highlight Banque Misr’s leading role in supporting the Egyptian economy in various fields. The bank also won the award for the best Egyptian bank for mega-projects in 2019 from the World Union of Arab Bankers.
In the field of Islamic banking, Banque Misr has won many awards, such as the award for the best bank for Islamic banking transactions in Egypt 2019 from the “International Business” magazine; the award for the best bank for Islamic transactions – Egypt for the years 2018 and 2019 from the British “Global Business Outlook” magazine; and the award for the best bank for Islamic banking transactions – Egypt for the years 2018 and 2019 from the “International Finance” magazine.
Banque Misr has recently won several international awards in the field of corporate social responsibility, among which was the award for the best bank in social responsibility in Egypt for the year 2018 and the award for the best environmental sustainability – Egypt 2019 from the Global Business Outlook magazine; the award for the best bank in social responsibility – Egypt from the International Business magazine for the second consecutive year in 2019. The bank has also won the award for the best bank in the field of social responsibility in Egypt for 2019 from the International Finance magazine; and the award for the best bank in social responsibility in Egypt for 2019 from the British “Global Brands” magazine.
Banque Misr has won the award for the best Egyptian bank for banking transactions with the Asian continent in 2019 from the Asiamoney magazine – Euromoney. The bank also won the award for the transaction of the year in Africa for the year 2019 from “The Banker” magazine – an affiliate of the Financial Times. The bank also won the award for the best commercial brand in Egypt 2019 from the Global Brands magazine.
Winning all these awards is considered a well-earned recognition and a result for Banque Misr’s continuous efforts and focus to maintain its customers’ trust as they are the most valuable asset and the best partners.
