Savings accounts

1.    Banque Misr savings accounts with interest and prizes in Egyptian pounds (with/without checkbook):

  • Savings accounts are registered under the customer’s name and cannot be waived or opened by anyone other than the natural person, whether Egyptian or foreign
  • The minimum sum for opening the account is EGP 1,000
  • The interest is dispensed every three, six, or 12 months, and its rate is determined according to the period of dispensement, based on the customer’s request
  • The customer is free to withdraw and deposit cash from any of the bank’s branches during the official work hours, or using the nationwide network of ATMs at all times and during every day of the week
  • There is no cap on the sums deposited in savings accounts
  • Accounts can be opened for minors and under joint ownership
  • Transfers from and to the savings account are accepted
  • Checks cannot be used for transactions on the savings accounts
  • You can purchase Banque Misr savings certificates using money deposited in the savings accounts
  • The interest on Banque Misr savings certificates can be deposited in the savings account, to be withdrawn at any time
  • The owner of the account can authorize others to withdraw and deposit from the account
  • Loans can be taken out against the savings account
  • Credit cards can be issued with the savings account acting as a guarantee
  • A monthly draw is held for the savings account balances in Egyptian pounds for five cash prizes with a total value of EGP 1,375,000, divided as follows:

     

First Prize

EGP 1 million

Second Prize

EGP 200,000

Third Prize

EGP 100,000

Fourth Prize

EGP 50,000

Fifth Prize

EGP 25,000

 

  • The minimum limit for entering the draw is EGP 100, where each EGP 100 is considered one draw entry
  • The draw is held on the second Thursday of every month based on the balances of savings accounts in Egyptian pounds, provided that a month has elapsed between depositing the savings and the beginning of the month of the draw

 

Winners are not disqualified from subsequent draws

2.    Banque Misr savings accounts with interest and prizes in foreign currencies (with/without checkbook):

 

  • Savings accounts are opened in US dollars, Sterling pounds, or euros, for Egyptians and foreigners
  • The interest is dispensed annually, on July 1st of every year
  • A monthly draw is held for the savings account balances in foreign currencies (US dollars, Sterling pounds, or euros) for three cash prizes with a total value of $30,000, divided as follows:

$15,000

Second Prize

$10,000

Third Prize

$5,000

 

  • The draw is held on the second Thursday of every month based on the balances of savings accounts in foreign currencies, provided that a month has elapsed between depositing the savings and the beginning of the month of the draw, and that a minimum of $100, £50, or €75

 

Winners are not disqualified from subsequent draws
