Banque Misr introduced the first Smart Card in Egypt and the Middle East through issuing two Visa cards (Smart Visa Gold and Smart Visa Saving) which contain electronic chips in addition to magnetic tape. The electronic chip was then also embedded into the Visa Classic card. The electronic chip provides the following advantages:
· Big storage capacity: the card can hold all of the client’s data
· Speedy transactions: in the event of the inaccessibility of a phone line, the electronic chip is used to secure an approval on the transaction
· Secure transactions: any transaction requires the client to enter a secret pin code
· Flexibility: the card can be accessed either through the magnetic tape or the electronic chip
Smart Visa Gold
· Issued to leading clients
· Provides the longest grace period of up to 55 days for the payment of outstanding balances (up till the 25th day from the date of the monthly statement)
· A minimum payment rate of 5%
· Cash withdrawal services available through ATMs spread all over the world
· Purchases possible at numerous commercial outlets worldwide using pin code
· Possibility of issuing a Premium card which enables holder to spread out payment for purchases over installments for up to 10 months with zero interest
· Possibility of issuing up to 4 supplementary cards
· Card can be used to pay phone bills through Telecom Egypt’s Website: www.telecomegypt.com
· Possibility of making deposits through the Bank’s branches in Egypt during official working hours and 24 hours a day at branches in airports and hotels
· Card holder gets a free insurance policy against accidents worth L.E 30,000
· At their request, the cardholder may receive emergency medical coverage worth L.E 3000 annually through Cairo Care Clinics (a medical services company) for a monthly fee of L.E 3
Visa Classic Card
· Can be issued to all clients at all branches
· Can be used for purchases and cash withdrawals locally and internationally and payment of outstanding balance is carried out in the local currency
· Provides the longest grace period of up to 55 days for the payment of outstanding balances (up till the 25th day from the date of the monthly statement)
· A minimum payment rate of 5%
· Possibility of making deposits through the Bank’s branches in Egypt during official working hours and 24 hours a day at branches in airports and hotels

· Possibility of issuing a Premium card which enables holder to spread out payment for purchases over installments for up to 10 months with zero interest
· Possibility of issuing up to 3 supplementary cards

Visa Moga Card
Banque Misr issued its first co-branded card with MobiNil for clients using MobiNil’s postpaid system. The card has the same characteristics of the Visa Classic card, with the additional possibility of using it to pay MobiNil bills.
· Can be used for purchases and cash withdrawals locally and internationally while payment of outstanding balance is carried out in the local currency
· Provides the longest grace period of up to 55 days for the payment of outstanding balances (up till the 25th day from the date of the monthly statement)
· A minimum payment rate of 5%

MasterCard Internet Card – Banque Misr
Banque Misr introduced Egypt’s first Internet credit card which has the following advantages:
· Used for internet purchases of products and services, with payments of outstanding balances made in Egyptian Pounds
· Minimizes risk related to use of other credit cards on the Internet
· Provides the longest grace period of up to 55 days for the payment of outstanding balances (up till the 25th day from the date of the monthly statement)
· A minimum payment rate of 5%
· Possibility of monitoring transactions through a detailed monthly statement sent to cardholder
· Possibility of viewing transaction statement online through subscribing to the free instant banking service on Banque Misr’s Website: www.banquemisr.com
Documents required for credit card applicants:
1- For cards based on asset collateral:
· Copy of personal I.D.

· Recent personal photo
· Letter from bank branch stipulating that it has secured the value of the asset collateral for the purpose of issuing the card including the required credit limit
2- For cards based on personal collateral:
· Copy of personal I.D
· An original utilities bill (electricity/telephone/gas/water) in the client’s name or in the name of a first degree relative, with a document proving this relationship
· Proof of income:
· Employee: an income certificate ratified by the dealing bank
· Commercial or industrial business owner: Copy of commercial registration letter and tax I.D
· Freelancer: Photocopies of practice license, tax I.D, and syndicate membership card
· Indication of banking activities, if available
· Recent personal photo
