For the Second Consecutive Year, Banque Misr Achieves Award for “Best Bank in Social Responsibility – Egypt 2020” from Global Banking and Finance Review
Banque Misr has recently achieved the award for “Best Bank in Social Responsibility – Egypt  2020” from Global Banking and Finance Review magazine for the second consecutive year; based on a set of stringent and specialized performance evaluation criteria, coupled with the Bank’s active strategy in the area of corporate social responsibility.
Worth noting is that these awards and accolades crown the Bank’s efforts and underscore its pioneering role in the field of social responsibility, which constitutes a key pillar of its business. Banque Misr has recently achieved several international awards in the field of corporate social responsibility, among which was the award for “Best Bank in Social Responsibility – Egypt  2018”; and the award for “Best Bank in Environmental Sustainability – Egypt 2019” from Global Business Outlook magazine; and the award for “Best Bank in Social Responsibility – Egypt” from International Business magazine for 2018 and 2019. The Bank also attained the award for “Best Bank in Social Responsibility in Egypt for 2019” from International Finance magazine, British Global Brands magazine and Global Banking and Finance Review.
Notably, Banque Misr has recently adopted four initiatives in this domain, in collaboration with civil society; whereby it participated in the initiative by the Federation of Egyptian Banks, contributing some EGP 80 million towards supporting the families of irregular workers in the wake of the precautionary measures instigated for curbing the spread of the coronavirus. The Bank also supported the Egyptian Food Bank and Misr El Kheir Foundation in purchasing 10,500 basic food supply family packages as well as disinfectants handed out to the most deserving families. This is in addition to Banque Misr’s participation in the fund-collection campaign spearheaded by the American Chamber of Commerce to provide the Egyptian Ministry of Health with the required medical supplies to combat COVID-19 in collaboration with UNICEF. Three ventilators were purchased and delivered to the MOH. The Bank has also supported those affected by severe weather conditions (rain and flooding) by collaborating with Misr El Kheir Foundation for rebuilding 24 homes in Minya governorate.
Banque Misr is considered one of the largest and most experienced banks in the area of social development; and the most environmentally aware and responsible, insofar as governance regulations, which complement its principles of long-term performance and sustainability. Banque Misr is the first state-owned bank to receive the approval of the General Reporting Initiative (GRI) and reports its business in accordance with the principles of sustainability; by taking into consideration such tenets as governance, human rights, anti-corruption, social participation and environmental safety standards. The bank also complies with UN Global Compact for Citizenship (Corporate Social Responsibility) standards; and has expended some 760 million EGP in community development during the fiscal year 2018/2019.
