Banque Misr Commissions the Egyptian Banking Institute for Provisioning an Information Security Program via Remote Learning to more than 18,000 Employees
Banque Misr, which is considered one of the largest and most prominent Egyptian banks, has commissioned the Egyptian Banking Institute for provisioning an information security program in cooperation with SANS International, for more than 18,000 Bank employees from various sectors. This agreement comes in lieu of Banque Misr’s keenness to maintain its leading role in the Egyptian banking sector and in order to boost its competitive aptitude, whereby it consistently strives to develop the competencies of its personnel and to ensure their acquisition of the basic and technical capabilities at the required level in all areas of banking, especially in the field of information security and e-learning programs. This shall be done in collaboration with EBI, which is a scientific institution possessing extensive expertise in the field of training and qualifying employees of the Egyptian banking sector. The contract is a continuation of the effective role played by EBI in providing all that is cutting-edge in the area of information security and e-learning, owing to it being the training arm of the Central Bank of Egypt.
Mr. Akef El-Maghraby, Deputy Chairman of Banque Misr stated that, “We at Banque Misr seek to design and launch innovative digital financial solutions and services that accommodate various needs, especially in light of the digital transformation trend.” He added, “With the development of technology, the means of information storage and internet data transmission, securing such data and information has become a critical matter constituting great importance to all financial institutions. Therefore, the Bank has commissioned EBI to train more than 18,000 employees in various sectors via "E-Learning" services provided by the Institute to avail the best global experience in the field of information security.” Banque Misr attaches great importance to the development and growth of human resources; whereby advanced training policies and programs are devised to include all domains of banking activities. The Bank’s training strategy for the fiscal year 2018/2019 included some 600 thousand training hours as well as provisioning more than 12 thousand training opportunities to employees. This is due to the Bank’s firm belief in employees being the most important assets of the institution and in its strength being drawn from enlightened personnel, while including amongst its ranks qualified and experienced staff enabling it to maintain the prestigious status it commands today.
On his part, Mr. Abdel Aziz Nossair, Executive Director of EBI stated: “We agreed with Banque Misr to provide the SANS Security Awareness program to secure information circulating over the internet against the dangers threatening any institution. This program enables trainees to identify the most common errors when utilizing information technology and the internet and to protect themselves and their institutions against avoidable hazards.
