EGP 130 Million Contributed by Banque Misr and the National Bank of Egypt to Develop the Operations Extension Building at Minya University Hospital

As part of their notable contributions in various fields of corporate social responsibility, Banque Misr and the National Bank of Egypt concluded a cooperation protocol with Minya University, for the purpose of supporting Minya University Hospital. Pursuant to the protocol, both banks are set to direct EGP 130 million towards implementing the first phase of the extension building; comprising two operating rooms, an intensive care room, a recovery room and a communications hub between the extension and the main building. This is in addition to electro-mechanical supplies, gases and outpatient clinics.

Mr. Mohamed Eletreby – Banque Misr Chairman stated that, "Owing to its pioneering role in the domain of social responsibility – due to this being one of the main pillars for achieving sustainable development – Banque Misr is keen on contributing to the comprehensive development of all sectors; especially health and education. This is in addition to assisting the most deserving villages, female breadwinners and all that relates to human growth; while supporting the state's efforts in all domains of development so as to improve the services rendered to citizens. Our contributions to corporate social responsibility during the fiscal year 2018/2019 amounted to some EGP 760 million; totaling EGP 2.6 billion over the course of the previous five years."

On his part, Mr. Hisham Okasha – NBE Chairman – added that the protocol emanated from the prominent role played by both Banque Misr and NBE in all areas – especially health, due to its exceptional and vital nature – asserting NBE's keenness to develop the various specializations of Minya University Hospital. He added that this comes as part of the Bank's corporate social responsibility contributions, which surpassed EGP 6 billion during the previous five years. Mr. Okasha reiterated that NBE adopts a strategy of community service – contributing to the health and education domains primarily – since these are the two pillars fundamentally affecting the state's development policy. According to Mr. Okasha, NBE contributed a total of EGP 1.75 billion to the health sector over the course of five years, which asserts the efficacy of this strategy and its positive impact on the lives of citizens.

Praising both banks was Mr. Mostafa Abdulrahman – President of Minya University – for their support of the hospital and strive to upgrade the caliber of service, so as to better serve the governorate's 6 million inhabitants. He also commended the collaboration of all efforts, whether public or private, with the state's strive for benefitting all citizens through comprehensive development.
