For the First Time in Egypt: Banque Misr Introduces Ibn Misr Certificate at an Annual Return of 15% through ATMs and WhatsApp, Offers Other Online Transaction Channels for the Safety of Citizens and Employees
Owing to safeguarding the health and safety of its customers and for the first time in Egypt, Banque Misr has introduced the purchase of Ibn Misr certificate via ATMs and WhatsApp, exclusively providing this service to customers in order to avail convenient and secure transactions, utilizing an extensive network of ATMs throughout the country. Banque Misr introduced this new savings instrument, namely “Ibn Misr Certificate” – which is a savings certificate having a fixed rate of return throughout its tenure of 12 months. The rate of return amounts to 15% and is disbursed monthly; with the tenure being computed as of the business day following the date of purchase and the certificate categories beginning from EGP 1,000 and its multiples. The certificate may be issued to natural persons or minors and loans may be borrowed against it, likewise the issuance of credit cards. The certificate may be redeemed after 6 months, effective the business day following the date of purchase (issuance date), pursuant to redemption regulations and applicable terms and conditions.
As for the channels through which customers are able to obtain the certificate; for existing customers, the amount at which they wish to purchase the certificate may be added, via bank transfer to their BM account (an application for purchasing the certificate may be submitted through electronic channels; whether internet banking, mobile banking, the data center – 19888 – or via, ATMs or WhatsApp at 0020219888; while refraining from visiting branches to avoid overcrowding and to ensure the safety of customers and that of BM personnel). An SMS confirming the purchase of the certificate shall be sent the following day at the latest.
For new customers, a transfer must be made from the customer’s bank to Banque Misr account no. (Ibn Misr 1000290000000030), while being sure to add the purpose of the transfer (depositing Ibn Misr Certificate, as well as the customer’s ID no. and mobile no). The transfer shall not be accepted without the required data and an SMS confirming the receipt of the request shall be sent the following day.
