Banque Misr Supports Ministry of Youth and Sports in Qualifying to Tokyo 2020 Olympics
Banque Misr has started providing support to a group of individual athletes that are likely to qualify to and compete at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. This support is provided through the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports. Banque Misr is keen on making the athletes' dreams of raising the Egyptian flag at the Olympics, come true. This support comes as part of Banque Misr's interest in Egyptian sports and in the country getting back its position on the international sports map; which will – in turn – help in Economic development. The Bank is also interested in helping youth achieve their ambitions and dreams.
Banque Misr is always keen on supporting the Ministry of Youth and Sports through annually sponsoring the Ramadan Tournament for youth centers around the country in the 5-a-side football. The Bank sees this as part of its social responsibility as it believes social responsibility is a cornerstone in achieving sustainable development. The Bank focuses its social responsibility efforts on several main pillars, out of which are the fields of health, education, and youth as they are the core in any society's development.
Banque Misr has launched the first philanthropy fund under the title "Egyptian Sports Fund". The fund is licensed by the Financial Regulatory Authority to collect and invest money and to spend the returns on supporting the development of the Egyptian sports sector. Thus, Banque Misr remains a positive example and a role model for the other institutions in developing Egypt and its youth. The Bank is leading in its care for the youth to build a better future.
Banque Misr is one of the most socially responsible banks in Egypt. The Bank is also one of the leading institutions in environmental responsibility, as the Bank considers it one of the main strategic areas it focuses on and supports, whether directly or indirectly through its non-profit foundation "Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development". This support takes form through participating in many social activities and initiatives. The Bank works tirelessly to achieve the best for the society in general in various domains, such as health, education, social solidarity, and community development. As an example, development projects in Egyptian villages that are most in need; the small and micro projects to create job opportunities for the youth and single mothers; developing slums and all that relates to human development.
Banque Misr in the fiscal year 2017/2018 alone has spent around EGP 600 million on community development projects.
