Banque Misr Signs a Protocol of Collaboration with the Bishopric of Public Ecumenical and Social Services for Automating Payments
07/02/2021
In light of Banque Misr’s support of state efforts directed towards realizing financial inclusion, the Bank recently signed a protocol of collaboration with the Bishopric of Public Ecumenical and Social Services (BLESS) – under the patronage of Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria. The protocol was signed by Mr. Ihab Dorra – Head of Retail Banking and Branches at Banque Misr; Mrs. Rasha Geneina – VP Corporate Banking Products and Financial Institutions; and the representatives of BLESS Eng. Samir Quzman and Dr, Ihab Faltaous. The protocol seeks to automate monthly assistance to beneficiaries, while enabling them to use the BM Wallet for disbursing cash aid, through any FAWRY machine or ATM without the use of a card. The ceremony was also witnessed by Bishop Julius – Bishop of Public and Social Services – as well as the Bank’s executives and representatives of the Bishopric.

The protocol is aligned with Banque Misr’s strive towards automating payments and transforming to a cashless society, by transferring assistance to some 5,000 beneficiaries of the Bishopric via electronic wallets. Beneficiaries will thus be able to withdraw funds via the branches of telecom companies or electronic payment outlets – 100,000 Fawry points of sale and 12,000 ATMs – as well as having the ability to pay bills and transfer funds to and from electronic wallets safely without the need to visit the Bank. This is especially important in light of the current COVID-19 crisis and the preference for maintaining social distancing and utilizing electronic services as a safe alternative.

The collaboration demonstrates one aspect of the efforts exerted by the Bank towards contributing to the state’s efforts for digital transformation; by offering electronic solutions that facilitate transactions for customers. This is together with expanding electronic payments and making them available to various social segments in a manner that realizes the goals of financial inclusion as a national state objective, in line with the policies of the National Council for Electronic Payments.

Banque Misr consistently seeks to launch innovative and technology-driven banking solutions and services that save considerable time and effort; as well as effectively contribute to building the Egyptian economy and developing society.
