Aligning with Banque Misr's leading role in social responsibility, the bank participated in the 'Belhana Wal-shifa' initiatives, providing food support, and the 'Joy Shop' initiative, aimed at equipping orphaned girls. The signing ceremony involved Her Excellency Nevine El-Qabbaj, the Minister of Social Solidarity, Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby, Chairman of Banque Misr's Board of Directors, and Mr. Tamer Mohamed Abdel Fattah, Executive Director of the Tahya Misr Fund. Distinguished leaders from the bank, the fund, and the ministry attended the event.
The Minister of Social Solidarity emphasized that this partnership reaffirms fruitful cooperation to expand social safety nets, especially during Egypt's economic changes impacting citizens' daily needs.
The minister highlighted that in-kind support provided by the state includes education expenses, medical treatment for struggling families, prosthetic devices for people with disabilities, marriage costs for orphans, and regular assistance from various institutions.
Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby, Chairman of Banque Misr, expressed, "Banque Misr is always eager to collaborate with civil society institutions to support the most vulnerable families across various governorates of Egypt. This aligns with the Egyptian state's direction to support the most deserving groups through the 'Decent Life' presidential initiative and to achieve Egypt's 2030 plan. It reflects positively on improving the standard of living for families."
The bank is committed to directing its support to various development programs, contributing to enabling the community to raise the standard of living for those in need and access sustainable communities. Additionally, it aims to improve the quality of life for citizens, fostering partnerships between different sectors of Egyptian society, including governmental, civil, and private, by providing a successful model for society to follow.
The Executive Director of Tahya Misr Fund, Tamer Abdel Fattah, emphasized that the protocol aims to strengthen cooperation frameworks between the three parties in the field of social protection. The objective is to reach deserving families with the best package of services and necessary resources through the convoys of the 'Balhena Walshifa' initiative. This initiative provides food support to the most vulnerable families, for whom a social case study has been prepared based on the databases of the targeted families with the Fund. Additionally, it includes their participation in the 'Dukan Al-Farha' (Joy Shop) initiative to equip girls with marriage supplies.
Under the 'Joy Shop' initiative, each girl receives a set of essential electrical appliances, including a refrigerator, washing machine, cooker, heater, mixer, fan, iron, cooking kit, bag of personal care products, and furniture. This aims to alleviate the burden of preparing deserving girls from the shoulders of their families and reduce the phenomenon of mothers in debt. The initiative also incorporates positive discrimination for orphan girls and people with determination. Banque Misr has contributed forty million Egyptian pounds to this initiative, and the Ministry of Social Solidarity has contributed twenty million pounds.
Abdel Fattah added that this strategic partnership sets a model for institutional cooperation at the community level. It carries a distinctive impact in the field of social protection, aiming to support the most vulnerable groups, including orphans and people with determination. The partnership seeks to enhance their ability to face societal challenges, as these conditions necessitate concerted efforts to deliver aid to all beneficiaries throughout the Republic.
It is noteworthy that the signing of the two cooperation protocols falls within the framework of Banque Misr's commitment to supporting the most vulnerable Egyptian families in various governorates of Egypt. The bank's contribution to the 'Belhana Walshifa' initiative aims to provide food cartons to families eligible for support during times of crisis, high prices, and other challenging conditions affecting individuals' livelihoods. Additionally, Banque Misr contributes to the 'Joy Shop' initiative, which focuses on equipping orphan girls by providing basic electrical appliances for their families. This initiative aims to alleviate the burdens faced by Egyptian families in light of the surrounding economic conditions
This initiative reflects Banque Misr's commitment to fulfilling its leading role in the realm of social responsibility, which constitutes one of the key pillars of sustainable development. The bank consistently endeavors to promote collaborations across all sectors of Egyptian society, offering a successful model for others to emulate. This commitment is aimed at making a genuine and impactful contribution to sustainable development and elevating the standard of living for those who rightfully deserve it.
